we're excited to talk about this one. as you know, we like to highlight people in films o films & shows specifically, that highlight people who fit our community. those who have overcome &/or survived cancer, sexual assault, domestic violence or living with chronic-illnesses, deficiencies, deformities & "disabilities".
designer & mogul diane von furstenburg fits that bill & then some. if you didn't know her backstory then that will just make you fall head over heels in love with this powerhouse all over again. a survivor of tongue cancer, a mother, a beard, as well as a sexually fluid deviant.... diane von furstenburg is a brussels force! with her
the dvf documentary takes you on a journey of fashion, that started out as a "happy accident. just a creative outlet for dvf to express herself. it pulls you through the "peace love" movement & tells about her extreme loss of her husband to the hiv/aids epidemic.
the part that sucked us in & made us a complete advocate, was the fact it took years for her & her daughter to find out about a medical condition that, eventually, re-bonded & united the pair. from winning it all very fast, as she puts it, to losing most of it, & then re-winning & reclaiming her crown, dvf is certain to leave a legacy of fluidity, unity & womens empowerment. joining the boys club to make it her club, following in her footsteps is not for the weak of heart. if we were you, we would have you guys watch it, now, asap. akin to diana ross, we love to see the timeless beauty shine.
